Rather than go under the knife, Seahawks’ cornerback Richard Sherman plans to let his elbow heal. The NFL star tore ligaments in his left elbow during the NFC Championship game against the Green Bay Packers. It was said he’d need Tommy John surgery, which is commonly associated with baseball pitchers.

If you’re guilty of allowing Fido to run around sans leash in King County parks and trails, you might receive a fine of up to $500. MyNorthwest.com reports that a number of complaints of off-leash dogs causing dog fights and injuries to other animals “led to the department hiring off-duty King County Sheriff’s Office deputies to conduct random patrols of parks and trails in their jurisdiction.”

When Plan A fails, turn to Plan B. That’s the latest from Seattle Tunnel Partners, the group responsible for salvaging the stalled and incredibly-behind-schedule tunnel boring machine Bertha, which is currently stuck due to a failure in its drill head. The Puget Sound Business Journal notes that the Bertha Plan B will charge into action if crews “fail to dig the necessary 20 feet to reach the rescue pit that was recently finished.” Then, Seattle Tunnel Partners will “chip away the concrete in front of the machine to clear a path and push it through.” Will all this cause even more delays and cost extra cash? Only time will tell.

Shoreline residents have expressed concern over the light rail line that’s slated to run up Interstate 5 from Seattle to Lynnwood (with a completion date of 2023). The problem? King 5 reports the Shoreline City Council “is considering rezoning neighborhoods around the coming light rail stations.” Around 10,000 residents along the highway corridors near 185th Street and 145th Street could potentially be displaced.

The savvy Girl Scout who last year sought out prime cookie-selling real estate near pot shops in San Francisco is at it again. This time, Danielle Lei set up her table of sweet treats near Green Cross Dispensary, a medical marijuana spot in south San Francisco. Smart girl. Seattle Girl Scouts, take note.

Chit-Chat Kids

Chit-Chat Kids

Phone a friend.

Twenty years ago, before everyone walked around with a device in their pocket, kids used to call each other on a landline—often tethered to the kitchen in their home. It was a simpler time, when parents didn’t have to worry (nearly as much) about a potential predator contacting their child. Nowadays, things are different, which…

The design celebrates the state’s official sport. Additional plates are on the way.

Washington served up a new license plate last week, honoring the state sport of pickleball. In the works for three years, it’s the second of seven specialty plates to hit the market since getting approved by lawmakers earlier this year. “We’re thrilled to see our efforts become reality,” says Kate Van Gent, vice president of…

Seattle-Based Agency Brings Real Voices to NBC’s New Campaign

DNA&STONE built the project around candid conversations to understand what audiences want from reporting.

“I turned off news altogether. I want to be able to form my own opinions. Just tell the truth.” These lines open NBC News’ new national campaign, a 60-second ad that drifts over forests, farms, neighborhoods, and cityscapes while Americans talk about how worn out they feel by the news. The landscape carries the conversation…
