Italy loves Spark Pizza.

The venerable Redmond restaurant has been named one of the Top 50 Pizzerias in the United States for the second consecutive year by Italian publication 50topizza.it. The online guide recognizes the best pizzerias in the world and is updated annually.

Spark last year finished No. 48. It finished No. 31 this year. It is the only pizzeria in Washington state on the list.

“This is a cozy restaurant with a wooden décor in a metropolitan style,” the online publication writes. “The disk of dough is light, well-leavened and topped with carefully selected products and baked to perfection in a wood-fired oven.” The write-up also mentions the “nice” selection of cocktails, wine, and other drinks.

Spark is owned by Tony and Carolyn Scott, a couple who met years ago working at the Painted Table in Seattle. The couple also owns Woodblock bistro in Redmond.
