Downtown crime: A shooting last night around 8 p.m. at Second Avenue and Pine Street left two men wounded. According to King 5 news, witnesses said they heard “between 12 and 20 shots.” There is still no word on who the gunman might be or the reason for the attack.

When did Apple become the boring one, indeed: Microsoft wowed the tech world yesterday with its unveiling of Windows 10’s various innovative features. The operating system will now run universal apps across PC, tablet, phone and Xbox One, plus offers a voice assistant for your computer that reminds us of the movie Her. The Puget Sound Business Journal says this impressive product lineup is what will define CEO Satya Nadella’s era.

Ferry commuters at the Colman Dock had a smelly start to their morning today: A dead whale was spotted underneath one of the slips at the Washington state ferry terminal last night around 11 p.m. The type of whale has not yet been determined, but Kiro 7 News reports that “it’s about 25 feet to 30 feet long.” The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has been called in to remove the animal.

Solo was in the car at the time of his arrest, and reports have surfaced that she had been “acting belligerent” and “pulled out her cellphone to record officers during the stop.”

Lady band Sleater-Kinney released its comeback album No Cities To Love this month and word about town is that it might just be their best album ever. The Stranger has the details.

Twenty years ago, before everyone walked around with a device in their pocket, kids used to call each other on a landline—often tethered to the kitchen in their home. It was a simpler time, when parents didn’t have to worry (nearly as much) about a potential predator contacting their child. Nowadays, things are different, which…

The design celebrates the state’s official sport. Additional plates are on the way.

Washington served up a new license plate last week, honoring the state sport of pickleball. In the works for three years, it’s the second of seven specialty plates to hit the market since getting approved by lawmakers earlier this year. “We’re thrilled to see our efforts become reality,” says Kate Van Gent, vice president of…

DNA&STONE built the project around candid conversations to understand what audiences want from reporting.

“I turned off news altogether. I want to be able to form my own opinions. Just tell the truth.” These lines open NBC News’ new national campaign, a 60-second ad that drifts over forests, farms, neighborhoods, and cityscapes while Americans talk about how worn out they feel by the news. The landscape carries the conversation…
