The Vibe: Low ceilings and plenty of dark wood make for phenomenal acoustics in this small bar, which opened in September, creating the impression that the place is full even if only a couple of tables are occupied by market shoppers or young professionals. Opt for a table or a spot at the gorgeous 30-foot bar to get a taste of Post’s ambient candlelight, warm pub-like interior and genuinely nice staff.
The Drinks: Beer is the beverage of choice at Post, whether a Belgian ale (Chimay, $9.50) or locally made Manny’s Pale Ale ($5.50). The small wine list offers local faves such as Januik and Revelry Vintners by the glass. And, with the extensive collection of liquors behind the bar, bartenders can accommodate anyone’s libation request.
The Food: The menu is short, simple and hearty, offering quality bar cuisine made with market-fresh ingredients. Everything from the caprese ($9) to the halibut fish and chips ($14.95) comes in generous portions, and the steak frites ($18) is a winner that will leave you with leftovers for days.
The Bathroom: While refreshingly spotless and perfectly lit for mid-evening touch-ups, Post’s restrooms don’t match the warmth found elsewhere in the bar. The barren beige and gray walls, pallid tile, and standard soap dispenser might as well be at your dentist’s office.
