Fun in the Sun: One More Weekend?
All across the Northwest many of us are wondering if this might indeed be the final weekend of sunny

All across the Northwest many of us are wondering if this might indeed be the final weekend of sunny warm weather for 2009, and if so, how to make the most of it. Well here are a few ideas:
Rent a lodge room at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, just 80 miles east of Seattle, and indulge in a little fly fishing, hiking, or bicycling. Bring the family along for fun in the indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs and water slides.
Hit the Gorge….the Columbia River Gorge near Portland, that is…and tour some of the grandest waterfalls in our nation. You can hit several in a day by car, or choose to hike between two (Wahkeena to Multnomah Falls) or into one (Eagle Creek Trail to Punchbowl Falls). Stay in style at the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, WA.
As for myself, I will be heading into the wilds of the North Cascades with my camper van and camera gear, hoping to see some of the peak fall colors that the rangers have been telling me about…. Check out any of the turnouts along Highway 20 in the national park, or, even better, be dazzled by the sights in and around Heather Meadows and Artist Point along Highway 542 out of Bellingham.
See you out there!
