MUST TASTE
Mistral Kitchen Opening Night

Friday (12/11) · Local foodies have waited months for William Belickis to unveil his latest project, Mistral Kitchen. Be amongst the first to check out the new South Lake Union restaurant–designed by local architect Tom Kundig–this weekend. 2020 Westlake Ave. (between 7th Ave & Lenora St.); 206.623.1922

MUST HEAR
Dick Dale

Friday (12/11) · Legend has it that Dick Dale blew out approximately 49 amps and speakers (eventually starting a fire) when guitar guru Leo Fender gave him his first Stratocaster. Today, Dale continues to travel the world beating up guitars. Saturday night he’ll do it on the Triple Door’s main stage. He’s been called the King of the Surf Guitar and the Father of Heavy Metal. We call him an ideal cure for the cold weather blues. 8 p.m. The Triple Door, 216 Union St, Seattle; $29 adv/ $33 day of

MUST SEEGreenLake Poetry and “Polar Bear” Jam
Saturday (12/12) · Bundle up (or grab a bathing suit) before heading to this poetry and extreme weather extravaganza. This Saturday 50 or so daredevils will do more than bare their souls by sharing poems. They’ll also shed their warm layers in favor of bathing suits before –what else?–jumping into Green Lake. We’re not calling this one a “Must Do”, only because we don’t want to encourage anything that might cause you embarrassment (or flu-like symptoms). The forecast is snow, so if you’re not taking the plunge, wear a heavy coat. 12:30 p.m. (Sharp!) Green Lake, 7201 E. Green Lake Dr. N; contact Mimi with questions at mimiallin@gmail.com or 617.460.6110

MUST LEARN
Hand Spinning for Fun and Fiber
Sunday (12/13) · Give into those DIY urges and learn the fine craft of hand spinning this weekend at The Field House (Ballard’s General Clothing Store) in a work shop taught by fiber artist Amy Hale. Classes are on a first come basis, so stop by early to get a spot. 4 p.m. The Field House, 5465 Leary Avenue NW, Seattle; for more info call 206.297.6093 or visit hello.blackbird.blogspot.com
