Yep, it’s true. Bring in 25 wine corks to any of Ethan Stowell’s restaurants (Anchovies & Olives; Union; How to Cook a Wolf; Travolata) to receive $25 off of your bill.

Kermit the Frog once said “It’s not easy being green.” But it turns out he was wrong. You can receive a Miss Piggy-sized discount on your dinner bill when you recycle your wine corks. Bring in 25 wine corks (real ones, only) to any of Ethan Stowell’s restaurants (Anchovies & Olives; Union; How to Cook a Wolf; Tavolata) to receive $25 off of your bill. Guests receive $1 off per cork, and the discount can be applied to the cost of food or alcohol, up to 50 percent of the bill, until the end of the year. It can’t be used with other discounts.

Stowell’s restaurants appear to be the first in Seattle to join with Whole Foods, Willamette Valley Vineyards, the Rain Forest Alliance and others in the Cork Re-harvest Program, which reuses and recycles corks for various purposes, with the goal of reducing landfill. So throw back some wine, raid your wine cork collections, have a wine tasting party, and trade them in for a tasty discount. Soon you’ll be singing along with Kermit “I am green and it’ll do fine”.
