Here’s what you must do this weekend: the Running of the Bulls in Belltown; dead rock stars tour on Capital Hill; and the International District’s Summer Festival
FRIDAY, JULY 10
Seattle Summer Blues Festival
Feel free to be moody at the first annual Summer Blues Festival at the Triple Door. Performers will include Grammy-nominated guitarist Eric Bibb, Tim “Too Slim” Langford with the Taildraggers, and Seattle’s on-the-rise R&B group Kim Field (a harmonica virtuoso) and the Mighty Titans of Tone. Feeling blue never felt so good. 7/9-7/11. Times and prices vary. Triple Door, 216 Union St.; 206.838.4333; tripledoor.net
SATURDAY, JULY 11
Pike/Pine: Cars, Bars, and Dead Rock Stars Tour
There’s a reason all those cool bars and restaurants in Capital Hill’s Pike/Pine corridor have huge windows, high ceilings and floors that could withstand a truckload of hipsters: In the 1910s and ’20s the area was an “auto row,” where dealers sold shiny vehicles to upwardly mobile Seattleites. The Seattle Architecture Foundation will tell you all about it on this two-hour walking tour–which will arm you with awesome ice breaker material the next time you’re out cocktailing on Pike/Pine. $15-$20; 10 a.m.; tour starts at Broadway Performance Hall, 1625 Broadway; 206.667.9184; seattlearchitecture.org/tours.cfm
SUNDAY, JULY 12
Chinatown International District Summer Festival
Who needs American Idol when you’ve got Karaoke Idol? The competition (on Saturday), delivers some of the best people-watching around town. Between acts, embrace the rich cultural heritage of this neighborhood at the Northwest’s largest Pan-Asian street festival, celebrating the region’s food, arts and musical talent. Free. Times vary. Hing Hay Park, 411 Maynard Ave. S; 206.382.1197; cidbia.org
