With the U.S. dollar holding strong over Canadian currency—one Canadian dollar equals .75 cents in American currency—and a slew of high-profile store openings, there has never been a better time to trek north for a little retail therapy.

Last September, Seattle-based luxury department store Nordstrom opened its sleek 230,000-square-foot flagship in downtown Vancouver’s CF Pacific Centre. The store carries all the usual fashion heavy-hitters, including Stella McCartney, Valentino and Marc Jacobs, plus local finds from the likes of jewelry creator Melanie Auld and menswear designer Wings + Horns.

High-end Canadian department store Holt Renfrew, which was founded in 1837 in Quebec City, has big plans for its Vancouver location, including a large expansion, and extras for its A-list clientele, such as private shopping events, dinners with visiting designers and a special, 1,000-square-foot, in-store apartment concept meant for wardrobing, personal styling, parties and trunk shows.

To gear up for your Vancouver shopping visit, peruse this list of 12 luxe goodies from favorite shops—Nordstrom and Holt Renfrew included—all at CF Pacific Centre.
