Channeling Chanel
Andrea Voss’ clothing designs blend classic and cool.

Lynnwood-based designer Andrea Voss’ muse list reads as follows: Coco Chanel, early-’90s rockers like Axel Rose and the costumers of Star Trek. The women’s and menswear designer cites the quirky assemblage as influences behind her ultramodern Voss Rock line. A graduate of Los Angeles’ Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and a veteran of multiple fashion weeks, including those in Miami and Seattle, Voss has gained a rep for dramatic runway wear, marrying unexpectedly paired materials (tulle and leather) with architectural details like exaggerated cowls and rocker-esque lace-up seaming. Now, the Spokane native has fused that futuristic approach to classic suiting silhouettes for her new ready-to-wear line, which is decidedly urban in smart black, white and gray hues, and fiercely feminine with tailored pencil pants, smart LBDs and luxe paneled trench coats both Coco and Axel would toast.
