Splurge-Worthy Escapes Perfect for Seattle Moms

We all know that a little R&R with our girlfriends is the golden ticket to staying sane during the madness that is motherhood. With Mother’s Day around the corner, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate being a mom than by splurging on one of these five sweet escapes with your fave gal pals. After all, the amount of hours you’ve spent watching the kids while hubby was golfing, traveling for business, or at work, pretty much entitles you to a little girls-only time — we’re talking sleeping in past 8:00am, mani pedis, and of course, bubbly. And, if getting away for the weekend is just too hard we totally get it, which is why we’ve brainstormed some cost-saving alternatives to these splurge-worthy vacas.

Splurge #1: Surf’s Up at Northwest Women’s Surfing Camp where you’ll ride a wave just like Kelly Slater — ok, maybe not totally like him, but the experienced instructors will get you hanging ten in no time. For a real splurge-worthy memorable time, opt for the Kauai Bali Hai Surfing & Cultural Immersion Retreat (April 24-30, 2012), or, if you want to surf West Coast style, the Oregon Coast Surfing Immersion Retreat (July 15-20, 2012) is the optimal spot to ride your first wave. Women of all ages and abilities are welcome, and you and your girlfriends will surely enjoy the organic food, sweet lodging, morning yoga, and tantrum-free environment. For six days and five nights the all-inclusive Oregon Coast retreat will run you $2195 and the Kauai retreat begins at $3095, all-inclusive except airfare.

Save: We love that Northwest Women’s Surfing Camp offers single-day camps for $225. Or, if hanging ten isn’t your style, pack a picnic for the beach (or pond/lake if you’re not oceanside) and spend an afternoon in the sun wining and dining, not to mention ogling the hot surfers emerging from surf. Even mama needs a bit of eye candy sometime.
