5 Shopping Events Not to Miss This Week

Retail therapy is just the antidote for winter’s coming blues

Now that it’s dark at 5 p.m., there is no reason left not to shop: You have finally packed away your sundresses and swimsuits, and it’s time to remember that added layers mean added opportunities for looking fabulous. Brighten your look and your outlook at these shopping events around the Seattle area this week.

1. Bellevue: Holly Zhang Pearl Gallery Third Anniversary One-Day Sale

When: November 8
Where:
In the Shops at The Bravern, 700 110th Ave NE, Bellevue
What:
Help Holly Zhang Pearl Gallery celebrate three years in Bellevue with a day-long sale offering 25 percent off its whole collection. Stop by any time on Saturday for the discount, and enjoy soda and appetizers between 2 and 6 p.m. See full details here.

2. Capitol Hill: Ebbets Field Flannels Pop-In at Glasswing

When: November 6, 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: 1525 Melrose Ave.
What: A fixture in Pioneer Square since 1988, Ebbets Field Flannels is taking its vintage flannel baseball jerseys, jackets and hats on the road Thursday evening, straight up to Capitol Hill’s Glasswing clothing and home goods store. Join Ebbets as it re-releases jerseys and hats for Pacific Coast teams, all based on original designs.

3. Downtown: Pibu Soma Store Opening

When: November 7, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where:
1304 Fourth Avenue
What:
Skin drying out now that the cold has set in? Spoil it properly at this new skincare store’s grand-opening celebration. Pibu Soma, known for its natural and organic skincare and cosmetic products has transitioned from a pop-up shop on Capitol Hill to permanent digs in the old Ward & Co. Men’s Grooming space. At the Friday fete, expect demonstrations and personal consultations from skin pro Marianna Szabo, she of French pharmeceutical company Pierre Fabre (known for its Avène and Klorane dermo-cosmetic lines). 4. Downtown: SCHAI Trunk Show at Baby & Company

When:  November 6, 5 to 7 p.m. and November 7-8, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where:  Baby & Company, 1936 1st Avenue
What: Peruse SCHAI’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection and peek at the Spring/Summer 2015 Collection all day Friday and Saturday. To gear up, visit on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. for cocktails, snacks and a special chance to meet the designer, Suk Chai. Learn more here.

5. Fremont: Fleur 09 Launch Party at Essenza Inc.

When: November 6, 4 to 8 p.m.
Where: Essenza, Inc., 615 N 35th St.
What: Add a fresh fragrance to your wardrobe this Thursday at Essenza with the West Coast unveiling of its Fleur 09 perfume: the essence of the flower. Maker Maria Christofilis will be present to help celebrate (and perhaps even spritz) her newest scent.
