WHY WE LOVE HIS LOOK: Fashion stylist Alvin Stillwell is paid to make starlets such as Ashley Tisdale and Jamie Alexander shine, but his personal style grabs its own spotlight—a look that’s comfy yet cultured, a sun-drenched beach boy meets twee Alfalfa. His longtime Northwest style staples, which include form-fitting designer blazers in unexpected plaids and whites, and his oh-so Seattle chunky specs, have been infused with a Pacific Coast beach vibe (the longtime Rainier Beach resident now splits his time between L.A. and Seattle for work). Pairing them with blazers, Stillwell blends untucked designer tees, rolled-up suit pants (or his favorite white Levi’s jeans) and weathered Clarks boots worn without socks for easy style. “I like to be slightly off, just a touch wrinkled,” Stillwell says, laughing. “It isn’t as much fun to dress preciously as it is to just live in it and love it.” THE ENSEMBLE: Cutler and Gross black square spectacles, a New York find; olive green Alexander Wang cotton tissue T-shirt, Barneys; Dries Van Noten cream linen blazer and rolled-up suit pants, designer’s apparel available at Jack Straw Filamants; waffle-knit pima cotton long-sleeve steel gray and blue henley from Built for Man; woven gold ring from Kimberly Baker; Thorocraft black leather “Trevor” desert boots, a Venice Beach find.
