Ampersand As Apostrophe’s Buffalo Parcel Bag

One bag, seven ways to wear it

Chinatown–International District-based Jessica Park, the designer of the ultrachic Ampersand As Apostrophe line of bags (and one cool necklace), is really into the concept of transformation. “Almost all of my bags can be transformed for multiple ways to wear,” she says. Her most popular bag, the Buffalo Parcel ($795), for example, has at least seven possible incarnations, considering it has a black metal chain, two shoulder straps and can also be carried as a clutch. Crafted out of soft, pebbled buffalo leather, this versatile bag is offered in a rich oxblood colorway this fall, saturated and almost purple, which works as a neutral (oxblood as the new black?). As far as the inspiration behind the line’s name, it represents Park’s design concept, something “simple, and sometimes overlooked, transformed into something beautiful and unrecognizable at first glance.” Available at ampersandasapostrophe.com and at the Frye Art Museum Store, First Hill, 704 Terry Ave.; 206.432.8201; fryemuseum.org/store.
