Burke Museum’s Empowering Women Artisan Market

pThe Burke Museum on the University of Washington campus is hosting an a href=”http://www.burkemuseum.org/events/browse/ew_artisan_market” target=”_blank”artisan market/a in conjunction with their current a href=”http://www.burkemuseum.org/empowering” target=”_blank”Empowering Women/a exhibit. Six of the women-run artisan cooperatives highlighted in the exhibit from Nepal, Laos, India, Bolivia, Morocco and Rwanda will be at the market, demonstrating their basketry, printing and weaving skills, and for this weekend only, their work will be available for purchase./p
pIn addition to the women from the exhibit, local organizations who work to empower women across the globe will have their wares for sale, including a href=”http://www.haitibabi.org/” target=”_blank”Haiti Babi/a baby blankets, which we a href=”http://\/\/seattlemag.com.239elwb01.blackmesh.com/article/helping-haitian-fa…“profiled/a in the magazine, as well as items from Snow Leopard Trust, Awamaki and Women’s Work./p
