Despite recent bike lane additions in sections through downtown and other areas of the city, bicycle collisions in Seattle are on the rise. King 5 News reports that “recent data reveals collisions increased by 34 in 2014. Also, the overall rate of collisions per 1,000 cyclists increased slightly.” A spokesman for the Seattle Department of Transportation says the spike in collisions is due to a spike in ridership, citing more people have chosen to bike on city streets since the safety measures have been put in place.  

Elephant advocates are not happy about the Woodland Park Zoo’s plan to ship its two Asian elephants Chai and Bamboo to the Oklahoma City Zoo. The activists instead want the animals moved to a sanctuary.

Retired NFL star Sidney Rice, who was a wide receiver on the Seahawks from 2011 to 2013, has announced that he will donate his brain to science. Rice told Fox & Friends that he’s suffered “at least 10 concussions and wants to see what that has done to his brain.”

Soon, you’ll start to see more blue-and-white Smart cars on the roads: App-driven car-sharing service Car2Go is set to expand its fleet by 250 cars, reports Komo News. The additional vehicles raise concerns among drivers who say the miniature cars take up too many valuable parking spots.

A public toilet is in the works for Pioneer Square. While the specific location is still being determined, the Seattle PI reports it could likely be situated near South Main Street.
