Decoding Annie Parker at SIFF
By Lauren Mang May 23, 2013

Back in January, we wrote a story about Dr. Mary-Claire King, the pioneering Seattle geneticist who discovered the breast cancer gene, a groundbreaking finding that garnered some serious Hollywood attention. King is the subject of the new movie, Decoding Annie Parker, a Steven Bernstein film starring actress Helen Hunt as King and Samantha Morton as cancer-stricken Annie Parker. The film follows the intertwining lives of Parker and King, which eventually leads to the world-changing discovery of the BRCA1 breast cancer gene.
Regarding Ms. Hunt’s portrayal of her, King told Seattle magazine’s contributing writer Maria Dolan: “Helen Hunt is a very fine actress, and she’s beautiful. It will be my words, with perfect hair.”
You can see Decoding Annie Parker at SIFF on Thursday, June 6 and Saturday, June 8.
