After two New York City police officers were shot and killed on Saturday, King County deputies are showing their support and donning mourning bands across their badges. KING 5 reports that the deputies have been instructed “to wear the mourning bands until midnight on the day of the last funeral in New York.”

The Happiest Place on Earth is expanding its operations in downtown Seattle. Walt Disney Co., which currently occupies five floors in the Fourth & Madison Tower, has renewed its lease and acccording to the Puget Sound Business Journal, is upping its square footage to seven floors.

More gift ideas for procrastinators: Starbucks gift cards. The coffee company reports that it sold about 2 million gift cards on Christmas Eve last year and expects to sell even more this year.

Parking lot dangers: Visitors to Northgate Mall are questioning its parking lot design after several shoppers have suffered injury. The dividers that separate rows of parking aren’t flat plots of dirt and landscaping, but drop off instead.
