UNIQLO is opening its doors to the company’s second Seattle-area store in Westfield Southcenter today. The Japanese maker designs wardrobe basics for men and women that blend technology-centric innovation with thoughtful design. Seattle magazine received an exclusive invitation to preview the new 7,500-square-foot location (situated in the shopping center’s west wing between Sears and Nordstrom) that builds off the success of the company’s first foray into the Pacific Northwest at the Bellevue Collection in 2015.

“We look forward to extending our presence in the Seattle area, a vibrant and fast-growing community that we have enjoyed calling home since opening our first store there in 2015,” said Hiroshi Taki, UNIQLO USA CEO.  “Southcenter is a thriving destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, and we look forward to meeting the needs of our customers with unparalleled service and everyday essentials that are made for all.”

Shoppers will want to fill their bags with a wide range of designs from the essential cotton T-shirt to colorful button downs and Selvedge jeans – a coveted high-quality denim that surprisingly retails at around $50. Of particular interest to the sartorial Seattleite are UNIQLO’s BLOCKTECH parkas and coats, which are waterproof, breathable, windproof and designed with stretch – who’s ready for a hike? There is also a collection of AIRism basics (slips, tanks and shirts) which release heat and moisture to ensure maximum comfort, a layer to consider as we transition towards warmer weather.

While the Southcenter location is smaller than a typical UNIQLO store, fans hoping to experience the brand’s wider offerings and capsule collections can have online orders delivered to the store, free of charge. Those with a long to-do list will find the two-hour turnaround time for basic hems and alterations helpful. These can be completed by any in-store employee – an example of the company’s customer centric approach to innovation and customer service.

Shoppers eager to take home new pieces will enjoy special opening weekend promotions from March 23 to 25.

Going forward, the store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
