The parade of holiday gift shows is starting this weekend and we strongly suggest you join the fun.  There’s no better way to pick up some meaningful gifts for the people on your list, while at the same time directly supporting local artisans.

If you know of, or are participating in, an artisan gift show this November or December, I want to hear about it!  Send me at an email at ali.brownrigg@tigeroak.com with all the particulars and I’ll do my best to help get the word out.

Queen Anne Artist Trunk Show

This sweet, family-friendly show happens on Saturday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Queen Anne Community Center and features a rec room full of great local makers, including Luv Chicken booster pillows, Eye Can Art, Pirouette soap and perfume, and many, many more. Admission to the show, sponsored by Sweet Pea Cottage preschool, is free, with face painting, art activities and puppet shows for the little ones.

Holiday Art Sale

Join felt designer Tricia A. Stackle and jeweler Leah Kangas on Saturday, November 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an in-home sale of their handmade furniture, jewelry, stitched drawings and home accessories.  Expect great deals on current inventory from these talented artists. I’m in love with Kangas’ sterling silver pieces that incorporate felted Merino wool and Stackle’s amazing felted forms. 4401 SW Hill St. in West Seattle.

It also happens to land right when thrift stores are at their best. Racks are full of cold-weather staples and holiday decorations, and…
