Huskies and Cougar Fan Gear for Gals (And Not a Bit of Pink Anywhere!)
By Lauren Mang September 20, 2013

One of the most frustrating things for an extremely devoted–verging on obsessed–college football ladyfan such as myself, is scouring the potential options for women’s fan gear and finding the following: too-tight tees (hey I enjoy beer(s) and a hotdog at games every now and then), ill-fitting box-like tops and more pink and rhinestones than you’d find in an 8-year-old’s bedroom. My university’s colors are red and black. So why in the name of Lou Holtz would I want to cheer on my team in anything but?
Enter Wishbone, a Seattle-based women’s collegiate apparel brand started by Washington State University grad Jessamy Staeb. I’m seriously loving the slight slouchiness of the hoodies and sweatshirts and the striped tanks would be a perfect casual option for a tailgate party. While some of the pieces do include a dose of glitter–it’s not distracting, FYI–there is not an ounce of non-school colors in any style. The designed-by-women apparel brand has more than 45 schools on its roster, including UW, WSU and Oregon, and pieces are sold through Fanatics.com. The college football season has only just begun (the Apple Cup is right around the corner!) so I plan on snagging some stylish fan gear stat.
