A visit to (1) Cherry Consignment, on California Avenue SW and SW Genesee, is a great way for anyone to kick off a West Seattle shopping day—it carries men’s and women’s apparel, and features maternity and plus-size sections to boot. (Two gorgeous pairs of Manolo Blahniks were recently spotted for between $90 and $125.)

One block south and across the street is (2) Clementine, home of West Seattle’s most delightful selection of smart women’s heels, flats and boots—with lots of superkickin’ ankle-high booties for fall.

The consignment keeps on keepin’ on a few doors down at West Seattle institution (3) Funky Jane’s Consignment and the new kid on the block, (4) Many Moons Trading Co. (recently relocated from an alley entrance behind California Avenue), where you’ve got to love the cut-and-dried pricing system of all shoes for $8, all dresses for $10 and all coats for $15.

Hopscotch California Avenue again south to the next block for (5) Sweetie. Its spread of killer Bleulab jeans, with their reversible colors and cool faux leather coating ($224), is not to be missed.

Before going on sunny vacation check out (6) Heidi Fish Designer Swimwear, a swimsuit laboratory tucked away on the second floor of an office building. Fish makes certain every custom-tailored suit ($128-$400) fits its wearer perfectly.

At (7) Carmilia’s, across the way, you’ll always find racks full of fun dresses from designers such as Ella Moss and Charlie Jade that have a way of eliciting an admiring double take.

Next up, the void of the sorely missed Knows Perfume space has been filled by relocated floral boutique (8) Fleurt, which has just about the sweetest floral-themed collection of jewelry on this green earth. Pick up one of the wildly popular chalkboard necklaces ($30-$45).

This saucy sugaring and skin care lounge, off the beaten path on 37th Avenue SW and Fauntleroy Way SW, offers monthly specials, such as $15 underarm and brow waxing (normally $27 and $25, respectively), along with boozy libations Tuesday–Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.

Parking improves just north of the retail district (at California Avenue and SW Genesee), where two-hour street parking is free and abundant.
