A Mineral Make Under: Koh Gen Do

By Seattle Mag March 14, 2013

I’m in to the “barely there” makeup look. It’s good day when I have a second to layer on mascara and apply some Burt’s Bees chap stick. But when I do take the time to actually go for more of a focused, deliberate “barely there” look, I turn to Koh Gen Do, a high-definition Japanese cosmetic line sold at Barneys.

Koh Gen Do came on my radar last summer when I had a chance to try their cleansing water, made with thermal water from Japanese hot springs (amazing as a refreshing and hydrating skin-saver) and in the process learned their marketing manager lives in Yelm, Washington.

Since then, I haven’t tried a product from them that I didn’t love, but right now I’m super into their Maifanshi mineral eye makeup, which is highly pigmented, but the colors are so soft and natural that I can getting away with looking like I don’t wear makeup, even though I am. Plus, the color is infused with anti-aging ingredients—and who doesn’t love those types of perks?
