Friends of Seattle Public Library Book Sale
(3/15–3/17) For those of us still attached to physical books, this sale is the perfect excuse to stock your personal library. (3/15–3/17) This annual festival, presented in collaboration with the American Institution of Architects’ Design in Public initiative, showcase films and presentations about architecture and design – visual culture of all kinds, really. Expect short-and feature length screenings and performances, workshops and a design bazaar. Design-minded, artisan-crazed viewers shouldn’t miss opening night’s screening of Pablo Pivetta’s Endless Letterpress, about the resurgence of typesetting. Times and prices vary. La Conner Daffodil Festival
(through 3/31) For the fifth consecutive year, more than 450 acres will transform to a splendid shade of yellow in Western Washington. Millions of daffodils emerge as spring arrives to the small town of La Conner. Enjoy a myriad of all-ages events, including a family photo contest and the Dandy Daffodil Tweed Ride, a countryside bike ride and picnic. Women Making History
(3/18) Celebrate Women’s History Month with Molly Moon at the Riveter. The beloved Seattle ice cream queen will offer her sweet treats to those who attend this intriguing talk, dedicated to the influential women that inspire Moon. Guest speakers include founder and CEO of the Riveter, Amy Nelson, Plum Restaurants owner, Makini Howell, Senator Patty Murray and Moon’s mom (Aww!). The panel will discuss the past, present and future of women in industry.
