Enchant Christmas Light Maze
(11/23–12/30) Safeco Field is getting a magical makeover this winter, transforming into the world’s largest Christmas-themed light maze. Search for Santa’s twinkling reindeer in the massive maze, glide on the ice-skating trail, shop for holiday gifts at the Christmas market and take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. (12/5) December brings some beautiful migratory birds to the Pacific Northwest, and Lake Sammamish State Park will host its monthly bird walk to learn more about these feathered friends. Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2
(11/29, 12/1; 12/7) Rachmaninoff’s First Symphony had a disastrous premiere in 1897, but the 24-year-old Russian composer rebounded (thanks to therapy and even hypnosis) by writing one of the most popular and melodically opulent piano concertos ever.
