MUST BIER
Fremont Oktoberfest

(9/22-9/24) We may not all be on board with lederhosen, but if there is one thing that connects Seattleites to German tradition it’s our city’s abiding love of beer. Our Northwest craft beers might be a bit hoppier than traditional old-country brews, but this event has room for both. Beyond beer look for live music, chainsaw pumpkin carving, a “stein hoisting” contest and more. Proceeds benefit the Fremont Chamber of Commerce. Times and prices vary; Fremont, 3503 Phinney Ave, 206.633.0422, fremontoktoberfest.com

MUST WALK (OR RUN)
End Aids Walk Seattle
(9/23) Join Lifelong’s 31st annual fundraising effort at Volunteer Park to support prevention efforts and care for those living with HIV and AIDS. Walk or run the 5K loop through Capitol Hill, and afterward, enjoy beverages in the beer and mimosa garden while toasting a worthwhile cause. 8:30 a.m., Volunteer Park, 1247 15th Ave. E, endaidswalk.org

MUST LISTEN
Alzheimer’s Talks: An Evening with Jean Smart
(9/27) The September installment in a lecture series presented by the UW Medicine Memory and Brain Wellness Center brings Alzheimer’s champion and Emmy Award–winning actor Jean Smart into the conversation. Best known for television shows such as Designing Women and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Smart will share her experience of supporting loved ones in her life with Alzheimer’s, with families and others in attendance doing the same. 7:30 p.m. Prices vary. Benaroya Hall, downtown, 200 University St.; 206.215.4747; seattlesymphony.org

MUST SAVE PETS
Mutt Ado About Nothing
(9/28) Frankie’s Friends, a nonprofit working to save pets with life-threatening conditions, hosts an evening at Georgetown Ballroom with tasty treats, raffles, live and silent auctions, a “buy it now” wall and other delights. Money raised supports the foundation’s medical treatment of animals, regardless of their human families’ ability to pay. 6-10:30 p.m. $150-$3,000; 5623 Airport Way S, frankiesfriends.org
