Must Bravo
Seattle Opera’s Opening Night of Tosca

Saturday (1/10, 7:30 p.m.) A power-crazed chief of police. Fake bullets replaced with real ones. A fatal plunge off a parapet! Puccini’s Tosca is the archetypical opera, with more melodrama than an episode of Scandal and a spicy score that keeps things racing toward the foregone conclusion. Don’t miss out on the snazzy after party, where guests are whisked backstage for champagne, dinner and dancing.

Must See
Frank Boyd’s The Holler Sessions at On The Boards

(1/8 to 1/18, times vary) Actor/writer/director Frank Boyd gained acclaim for his work with prominent performance group Elevator Repair Service. In The Holler Sessions, he introduces the character of Ray, an animated radio DJ from Kansas City whose passionate devotion to jazz results in dancing, swearing and a lot of loud music in his booth.

Saturday (1/10, 5:15 p.m.) Show your 12th man/woman fever by cheering on the boys in green and blue Saturday at 5:15 p.m., when the ‘Hawks take on Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. No tickets to CenturyLink? The Seattle Central Library will screen the big game on its massive screen for free.
