Lori Glynn believes it was fate that connected her with Kathy Johnson, the owner of longtime Burien stained glass business Glass Expressions. Glynn just happened to walk in one day last year, on her way to visiting a potential site for her new housewares and gift shop. Johnson just happened to be looking for a new renter.
In February, Glynn and business partner Rebecca Zielinski opened Sitka Living (Burien, 648 SW 152nd St.; 206.248.4238) in the front half of the Glass Expressions building in downtown Burien. Glynn has spent 15 years working at popular Ballard home shop Camelion Design (she’s still there a couple of days a week), and you can see a similarity in Sitka Living’s aesthetic: locally made gifts from artists such as potter Cary Lane and painter Magdalena Cooney, custom furniture, and mix-and-match pots and plants.
