This article originally appeared in the October 2014 issue of Seattle magazine.

After 20 years of designing for high-end retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, Bellevue-based Jean Glover has ventured out on her own with 8telier, a clothing line she designs for “cosmopolitan women who have an affinity for modern aesthetics.” Translation: easy, comfortable clothing—slightly edgy, but definitely wearable—that transcends trends and feels fresh and familiar at the same time. Standout pieces in the mostly black, white and gray fall/winter 2014 collection include the 8telier modern jacket ($468), made out of a luxe-looking “liquid”-coated poly/spandex, with a flexible collar for versatile styling (up if you’re feeling rebellious, down if you’re feeling tame); blousy, go-with-everything knit tops ($196); and cute everyday black city leggings with an attached short skirt for extra sass ($176). Shop the line at 8telier.com and at Clementines (Pioneer Square, 310 Occidental St.; 206.935.9400; clementines.com).
