Pick-Quick Opens Seattle Location on Tuesday
Watch out Dick's—there's a new deluxe in town.

It’s not worth arguing over your favorite fast-food burger—it’s shaped by food preference, sure, but also history, community, personality. It’s 80 percent nostalgia and 20 percent fondness of pickle relish. (For the record, I grew up in California, so I’m on team In-N-Out all the way.)
If you’ve never driven 30 minutes south to visit Pick-Quick in Fife, you’ve missed a beauty of a burger: thin-pattied, adequately charred, served from a walk-up window with nearly 70 years of history. On Tuesday (Oct. 18), Pick-Quick is opening its first Seattle location, marked by a 12-foot neon sign in SoDo. You can expect the same burgers—you’ll want to order the double deluxe, with two patties topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion slices, pickles, and the signature sauce—in addition to hot dogs, chili fries, milkshakes, dipped cones, and more.
You can bet that Seattleites who grew up in Pierce County are excited to have a closer taste of home. Surely Pick-Quick can replicate those burgers, but how successfully can you create that sense of 1949 nostalgia in a 2016 restaurant? We’ll have to go Tuesday to find out.
