Plan Your Seahawks Party With These Killer Game-Day Takeout Options

It's a long season and you don't want to be stuck in the kitchen for it.

When entertaining, sometimes cooking is out of the question. Hosting a Seahawks viewing party is certainly one of these times. If you miss a game-changer of a tackle or god-forbid a touchdown while whipping together a bean dip, you will regret it.

But your guests can’t go hungry either. With the Hawks kicking of their season Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, here are some of the best places to order takeout on game days.

Marination’s Hawaiian-Korean barbeque tastes better with friends. With a couple of days’ notice, the restaurant’s catering service can serve up to 150 people with Kalua pork sliders, kimchi fried rice and their “sexy tofu” taco salad. It’s the perfect place to call if you’re hosting a viewing party for one of the biggest games of the season. Don’t want to jinx it, but can someone say Super Bowl party? Multiple locations.

The family meals at Heaven Sent serve fried chicken by the piece, and include various sizes of breasts, wings, thighs and legs. With meal packages ranging from eight pieces to 24, you can feed as many hungry guests as you need. Plus, the family meals include two large sides and deliciously warm rolls. Multiple locations, heavensentfriedchicken.com.

For those who turn their noses up at fried foods and prefer a more international spread on game day, Sushi Kappo Tamura offers large platters of sushi feeding up to four people. Get a variety of their specialty rolls or mix it up with some nigiri. Sushi and football may not be the most common of pairings, but Kappo Tamura’s stuff is so good it doesn’t even matter. Portage Bay, 2968 Eastlake Ave E, sushikappotamura.com, 206.547.0937.

If it’s raining on game-day, go for a warmer meal from Mike’s Chili Parlor. Load up their bowls/vats of chili (available with ground beef or just beans) with the classic trimmings like sour cream, green onion and cheddar cheese. For takeout orders, the dive bar peddles chili by the pint ($8), quart ($14) and gallon ($49, bring your own container) to take home for the game. Make sure to bring cash, as Mike’s doesn’t take credit cards. Ballard, 1447 NW Ballard Way, 206.782.2808.

When trying to please a big group of people, going with Mexican food is always a safe bet. Who doesn’t like tacos? Cast Iron Studios is the catering arm of Heavy Restaurant Group, the folks behind beloved restaurant Barrio and offers large “build your own taco” platters for 12 people. (The Heavy team knows a thing or two about tacos.) Pair that with their 48-ounce bowl of guacamole and tortilla chips serving up to 18 people, and you’ve got yourself a party. Orders can be placed online by emailing catering@heavyrestaurantgroup.com or calling 206.855.6118.

Worker-owned restaurants and community-driven kitchens shaping Seattle’s food scene.

Those in the restaurant industry have always faced unspoken challenges. Their stories are often kept behind the fold. Today, we’re hearing more personal accounts of wage theft, abuse, harassment, and a mountain of trauma in an industry built to nourish, celebrate, and commemorate.  How does one server, one restaurant take on changing the industry when…

The Belltown staple still feeds the city after 10 p.m.

After the last tickets come off the rail, floor mats are hauled out to be hosed down, oven hoods are scrubbed, aprons come untied, and someone counts the drawer. It’s a familiar ritual in restaurant cities everywhere. When the shift ends, cooks and servers go looking for a drink and something to eat. For three…

In her new cookbook, Seattle author and dietitian Rachael DeVaux keeps healthy eating grounded in real life.

Rachael DeVaux is not afraid of beef. That might sound obvious, but in a wellness culture still haunted by plain chicken breast and low-fat everything, her enthusiasm for grass-fed ground beef feels almost radical. The Seattle-based New York Times bestselling author, personal trainer, and founder of Rachael’s Good Eats has built a following of more than 3.5…

Monday nights are worth celebrating—you made it through the first day of the week, so why not treat yourself to a delicious meal? Unfortunately, but understandably, plenty of restaurants are closed.
