The Rest of the Country Loves Marshawn Lynch as Much as We Do

Beast Mode jerseys are flying off the shelves in unexpected places.

OK, no one loves Marshawn Lynch as much as we do.

The Skittle-gobbling wrecking ball is forever endeared to Seattleites, after helping lead the Seahawks to the franchise’s only Super Bowl victory during the 2013 season. (They’d have another ring had they just GIVEN LYNCH THE DAMN BALL.)

But since coming out of retirement this year to play for his hometown Oakland Raiders, Beast Bode fever has been raging, and not just in the expected regions.

The NFL’s official online retail hub periodically releases info on its top jersey sales. It’s become an unofficial litmus test for the league’s most popular players. The latest details prove what we already know: The people love Marshawn.

Lynch’s jersey is the top seller in 14 states, straight up dominating the entire West Coast. Predictably, his was No. 1 in Washington and California, but he also took the top slot in Kansas and Indiana—states that have very popular NFL teams of their own. Even Alaska and Hawaii are tearing Lynch’s jersey of the digital shelves.

As popular as the Lynch swag apparently is, it’s still not the highest selling jersey in the country. That honor goes to ageless jawline Tom Brady, the guy who handed the Hawks that stinging loss in Super Bowl XLIX (because we didn’t GIVE LYNCH THE DAMN BALL).

At any rate, fans looking to pull out their old Lynch jerseys will have an excuse next month. The Seahawks and Lynch’s new squad meet up in Oakland for a preseason game on Aug. 31.

The immersive, whimsical dining experience debuts at the Kimpton Palladian Hotel.

At a recent dinner, I sat across from a friend, smiling as a tiny orange-and-black butterfly landed on my empty plate. Just inches away, a small figure in chef whites and red boots strolled out of a greenhouse with a rake perched over his shoulder. He then proceeded to work a patch of dirt, plant…

Seattle’s fishing culture is something to be proud of. Drive over the Ballard Bridge on any given day and you’ll see the fleet docked below. The weathered, working boats stacked with gear, waiting for their next trip north, are striking, aren’t they? It’s hard, dangerous work, and there’s something so compelling and fierce about the…

Restaurant Roundup: Halal Bagels and Mario Party

Here’s what was served up recently in the Emerald City.

OK, we’ll say it—we love Seattle Restaurant Week, but it also gives us a little bit of anxiety and a lot of FOMO. There are just so many choices. Hundreds of restaurants, food carts, cafes, and bars can be a tad overwhelming, but 10? That’s a much more manageable number. Thankfully, Secret Seattle put together…
