Holiday travelers put the Washington State Department of Transportation’s online summer ferry reservation system to the test this weekend. The system, which serves parts of the San Juan Islands, has experienced problems in the past (it failed on its first day back in April), but this time around it went off without a hitch. King 5 News reports some travelers were happy with the reservation system, while some were not.
Congrats, Ms. Gates. Melinda Gates, the co-chairwoman of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was listed as No. 3 on Forbes‘ Top 10 Most Powerful Women list. According to The Puget Sound Business Journal, she joins the list with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Planning a road trip across the Deception Pass Bridge this summer? You could face a few delays. Highway 20 is slated to “get a fresh coat of asphalt” this summer, MyNorthwest.com reports. And the work is scheduled to begin in June. “There will be five nights of full closures on the bridges — between 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning. No vehicles will be allowed on the bridges during those times, which could mean delays during late-night and early-morning commutes.” For more, read the rest of the story here.
