Seattle Retailers Slash Prices For Black Friday

Deals can be had at Amazon, Costco and Nordstrom

The city of Seattle is one of the epicenters of the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.  The government shutdown of non-essential businesses has closed many public places including shops, restaurants, bank lobbies and more.  The downtown flagship Nordstom store in Seattle is closed, along with a Louis Vuitton shop located inside.

Retailers across the United State are offering huge discounts as Black Friday approaches.

Locally, Nordstrom on average is slashing prices by 39%, Amazon by 26.5% and Costco by 22%, according to financial services website WalletHub

Department stores JCPenney, Macy’s and Kohl’s topped the list, offering average discounts of 56.7%, 56% and 51.9%, respectively. 

When broken down by category, Amazon ranked No. 5 in discounts for apparel and accessories, offering an average discount of 49.8%. The Seattle-based company also ranked high in discounts for books, movies and music, and for video games, with discount averages of 35.6% and 30.9%, respectively. 

Nordstrom’s average discount on apparel and accessories is around 42.8%, and Costco’s average discount is nearly 25%.

Macy’s ranked high in several categories, including furniture, apparel and accessories, packaged goods and jewelry, with average discounts ranging from 39.3% to 65.9%.
