Seattle’s Preeminent Cookbook Store Launches a Podcast for Food Lovers
Book Larder Podcast releases new episodes every Wednesday

Author talks and cooking demonstrations have been an integral part of Book Larder’s (Fremont, 4252 Fremont Ave. N; 206.397.4271) success ever since the beloved cookbook store opened in 2011. In May, owner Lara Hamilton added a virtual way for food lovers everywhere to participate in events: via a podcast.
Hamilton says she’s long been mulling over the best way to utilize the content “already built into what we do.” So, she tapped Book Larder office and events manager Abby Cerquitella, also producer of the popular Spilled Milk podcast from local food writers Molly Wizenberg and Matthew Amster-Burton, to help. The Book Larder podcast—available through Spotify, Google Play and other audio streaming services—debuted with a recording of an April interview by local writer Nancy Leson with Ruth Reichl, author of the current best seller Save Me the Plums and editor of the now-shuttered Gourmet magazine.
New episodes are released every Wednesday. The podcast can’t compete with the joy of experiencing these events in person, but for food lovers with busy schedules, it’s a close second.
