NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Marshawn Lynch will appear on Conan O’Brien tonight, facing off on O’Brien’s “Clueless Gamer” segment (that’s my kind of segment!). Catch a preview of the video game action right here (and be amazed as Gronkowski attempts to hawk the drug Lipitor), then watch the full episode tonight on TBS.
A Super Bowl in Seattle? The Seattle tourism bureau thinks it could be in our fair city’s future. According to King 5 News “It’s been said Seattle is too far north to host the winter event, but New York City already broke the ice on that one. There’s also the concern that CenturyLink Field needs more seats to host the big game, but those who know a thing or two about the bidding process say that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.” As someone who lived and reported during the 2011 Super Bowl game in Dallas (ahem, Arlington), I can tell you it’s mayhem and it comes with a lot of women in bandage dresses. Do with that information what you will.
Cities on the Eastside are in the hot seat over fees and restrictions imposed on tent encampments that make it difficult for religious communities to host the temporary homeless housing. According to The Seattle Times, St. Jude Church in Redmond was one such group that offered to host Eastside tent city Camp Unity for the next three months. Redmond charges $2,600 for a temporary-use permit.
A Forbes analysis says Seattle is the nation’s fifth fastest-growing city due to its population and economic growth. San Francisco, eat your heart out.
In super relevant music news: Singer Dave Matthews, he of the eponymous ’90s rock band favored by a few ex-boyfriends of mine who wore pucca shell necklaces, has raised the 12th man flag atop the Space Needle today (he’s doing it as I write this!). The flag will be soaring in the sky through Super Bowl weekend.
