Talcum Moves to The Baltic Room Tonight

Talcum, Capitol Hill’s Northern Soul dance night, moves to The Baltic Room (1207 Pine St.; 625.4444) room this evening.

The new location is good news for Cap Hill soul fans left in limbo when Talcum’s former venue, King Cobra, closed last month.

For those of you unfamiliar with Talcum, think of it as a little brother to the Lo-Fi’s oh-so popular and long-running Emerald City Soul Club night.  Talcum and ECSC are not your Pioneer Square variety of bumpin’ and grindin’ dance nights (though there’s still plenty of movin’ and shakin’). DJs spin original 45s from the 60s and early 70s (think: Motown classics, 60s and early 70s R&B). If this sounds like the music for you, then put those dancing shoes on and head to the Baltic Room tonight (9 p.m. to 2 a.m.; $5 admission).
