Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 10, so it’s that time of year again where you show a little gratitude to your mom or any caring, female role model in your life for all she has done for you. I mean, raising someone like you? That’s some intense labor right there. If you feel like you go through the same cycle of chocolates, flowers and greeting cards every year, you’ve come to the right place. We present to you activities for all kinds of moms, from the artists and beauty lovers to the fitness-obsessed and slightly eccentric (yet very lovable), this Mother’s Day!

1. Recoop while you Raffle: Spend $50 at the sensational Recoop Spa in Bellevue until May 9 and enter to win a spa day or some delectable treatments for mom. Raffle prizes include a 60-min Ultimoot massage or facial, deluxe pedis, and more things that will make mom’s toes curl with delight. For moms who are natural beauties, Bella Fiore offers naturopathic facials and iSun body wraps using dead sea mud and Rhassoul clay to relax and detoxify. Gift her some of that much needed R&R.

2. Fly high with mom from April 28 – May 10 at Capitol Hill’s 12th Avenue Arts with the Acrobatic Conundrum’s Three High Circus Series. Three different contemporary circus performances are available from which to choose, including “Acrobatic Conundrum’s The Language of Chance” and “Company Cirque en Derote’s The Really Weird Cabaret!” Not your average visit to the big top. Tickets can be purchased in advance on its website or at Brown Paper Tickets.

3. Well okay, maybe you can still give mom flowers, but how about personalized arrangements of fresh, locally grown ones? Pike Place Market will celebrate Mother’s Day with its 7th Annual Flower Festival offering a tent for kids to make handmade “I love mom” cards, an engraved market charm for mom to make Pike Place history, and much more. More for the flower power mom here.

4. Artsy fartsy moms, unite. Explore local artists’ home studios and galleries to see beautiful jewelry, glass art, ceramics, metalwork, printmaking and photography in the making with Kirkland Artist Studio Tour (KAST). Bonus: most of these home studios are located in scenic Kirkland neighborhoods with a gorgeous view of Lake Washington. Fancy.

5. Speaking of gorgeous water views, Kirkland’s Mother’s Day tradition continues with a half marathon and 5k just along the Lake Washington shore. All speeds of mom are welcome—walking moms, running moms, and sprinting moms. Juanita Beach Park marks the finish line where there will be nearly 30 exhibitor booths, a free PCC Healthy Kirkland Kids Dash, and brunchy libations for moms to celebrate their big finish.

6. Mom have a love for all things Twilight and ghastly? Well, then this last one is sure to be a ma-gnome-ficenet idea for her. Creepy, terra cotta Zombie Gnomes have entered the world of ghoulish landscaping. Warning: keep away from other peaceful gnomes that fish or sit on toadstools. Need another fun activity for moms with a dark side? Park in the Dark at UW Arboretum offers night hikes where you can witness the activities of other nocturnal creatures.

Thank you moms for all that you do!
