And the best part: you don't need reservations

Eating out on Monday nights can be rough—so many of this city’s great restaurants are closed. But tonight, you’ve got a great new option: Trove is launching a series of pop-ups that celebrate the Relay Restaurant Group’s (Trove, Revel and Joule) talented sous chefs. Stop by Trove’s noodle bar tonight, May 14, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. for a Korean Chinese food pop-up.

“I feel so fortunate to find my voicing in cooking early on,” says chef/owner Rachel Yang, who was nominated for a James Beard award, along with husband/partner Seif Chirchi, at last week’s ceremony. “I always talk to my staff about how important it is to be true to yourself when it comes to cooking and a lot of people are drawn to their heritage or cooking style that’s very personal to them. You can see the glimpse of it in their family meals that they make for the staff and home made treats that they bring to work.”

This first menu features a collaboration between Yang and sous chef Yoon Kim. The menu will be a bit traditional, a bit Trove-style: beef and broccoli spiked with gochuchang, sweet and sour pork and jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup). All items will range between $3 and $17. And the best news for slackers is that there are no reservations.

Yang says this will be the first in a series of events she plans to hold on Mondays every four to six weeks to highlight her chefs’ talent in other types of cuisine. Look for other themes like real-deal Korean street food, Hawaiian classics and Japanese kare and katsu.
