If you missed last year’s spectacular tasting event that was thee hot ticket of the summer, you have another chance. Red, White & Brew, a fete jam-packed with Washington wines, beer from local breweries, cocktails from Hendrick’s Gin and eats galore, is back for the third year and this time it’s taking place on Friday, July 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the freshly opened rooftop terrace at the Fremont Foundry.

We’re jazzed to honor all the Washington wineries that will be featured in Seattle Magazine’s 9th Annual Best Washington Wine Awards (look for the story in our August 2014 issue), all selected by a panel of the top sommeliers and wine professionals in Seattle. We’re doubly jazzed that we’ll (and you!) get to sample these award-winning wines during Red, White & Brew.

Tickets, which include all drinks and food, are on sale for $45 until July 1, then increase to $55 until they sell out. And know this: Last year they did indeed sell out, so plan ahead! Go here to purchase yours.

Photo Essay: The Relief of the Moment

Words and photography by Nick Ward.

Photography tricks my ADHD brain into doing something borderline miraculous: It allows me to focus on exactly one thing at a time. When I press the shutter and hear that lovely little ka-chunk, the inner chatter winks out. I feel oddly connected to the moment by being outside it, observing through the frame instead of…
