For years, Seattleites have been flocking to Green Lake on the second Saturday of December to circle the lakeside path, which, on this night, is festively lighted by luminarias. Come again this year to be dazzled by the event’s newest addition: hot-air balloons, tethered in a field adjacent to the Green Lake Community Center and magically glowing from within.

Enjoy live holiday music and refreshments at several venues around the lake at this family-friendly event. And don’t forget to deck yourself out with a few lights, too. It’s all part of this annual Seattle tradition.

12/8. 4:30–7:30 p.m. Free (food donations encouraged). Green Lake, 7201 E Green Lake Drive N; Green Lake Pathway of Lights

Seattle’s fishing culture is something to be proud of. Drive over the Ballard Bridge on any given day and you’ll see the fleet docked below. Here’s what was served up recently in the Emerald City.

OK, we’ll say it—we love Seattle Restaurant Week, but it also gives us a little bit of anxiety and a lot of FOMO. There are just so many choices. Hundreds of restaurants, food carts, cafes, and bars can be a tad overwhelming, but 10? That’s a much more manageable number. Thankfully, Secret Seattle put together…
