Known for its east-meets-west approach to wellness, Yuan Spa blends ancient Asian healing philosophies with modern spa technology, creating a unique relaxation experience tailored to each client’s needs. With two locations, one in Bellevue and one in Kirkland, Yuan offers services ranging from traditional hydrotherapy (clients complete circuits through heated and cooled environments, including pools, steam, and salt or cedar rooms), nail care, and massages to more focused treatments like cupping, guasha, and reiki. Recently, the Bellevue spa started offering the wildly popular headspa treatments, pairing products from Milbon Gold, one of Japan’s top hair care lines, with customized shampoo and scalp cleansing techniques to leave you with healthier, fuller, and shinier hair. (Note: Some services are offered only at a certain location, so make sure to confirm before booking.)

About Best of the Best

Everyone loves a winner. And when it comes to Seattle favorites, there’s no shortage of opinions on which places, spaces, and bites deserve top honors. This year, we did things a little differently—our staff weighed in, debating and voting to determine the best of the best across the city. We also ran our annual Readers’ Choice poll for comparison (and yes, there was overlap in just one category). Here’s to celebrating all the winners, no matter who cast the vote.

While I don’t mind a good deal on something I need, excess sales promote over-consumerism that leaves me feeling empty.  Skip the Black Friday frenzy altogether and embrace a season of…

Journal Journey

A local creator turns her journaling practice into a tool for clarity and calm.

After 14 years of working in the tech industry, Sunetra Deshpande felt burned out, so she turned to journaling to streamline her thoughts. “It helped me refocus, find clarity, and manage my mental health,” she says. “What surprised me was how difficult and intimidating journaling can be for many of us who don’t identify as…

Why we should teach boys it’s okay to be sad.

I was 13 years old when my father died. It happened on a school night, and I remember my mom waking me up along with my younger brother and sister. “He’s gone,” she said, bringing us out of our bedrooms. The news was back-breakingly sad. It was not, however, sudden. My father, whom we all…

Heartbeat: The Full Curve of Friendship

Heartbeat: The Full Curve of Friendship

Maintaining a lifelong connection requires commitment and discipline

You have to live a long time to see the full curve of friendship. A while ago, we used to have a thing called a Rolodex or an address book. Remember those? You had a compendium of addresses and phone numbers of most people you knew, but maybe you put that antique way of remembering…
