Seattle lost a true legend with the passing of Quincy Jones on Nov. 3 at age 91. A Garfield High alum, Jones moved to Seattle at age 10 and went on to shape the sound of generations. He broke barriers in jazz, R&B, pop, and film scores, producing timeless hits for artists like Michael Jackson — including Thriller, the best-selling album of all time. Jones also made his mark in Hollywood, scoring films like The Color Purple. With 28 Grammy Awards and a lasting impact on Seattle’s music scene, he’ll always be remembered as one of our city’s greats. Rest easy, Quincy — you’ll always be a part of Seattle.
