Seattle’s Romantic Stats this Valentine’s Day
When it comes to love and romance, how does our city compare?

This just in: Romance is dead in Seattle.
According to Instacart, the grocery delivery service and the part-time love authority, we are number four on the list of most unromantic cities in the country. Instacart took grocery delivery orders and analyzed them based on “romantic terms” such as flowers, chocolate, hearts and champagne, among others. They crunched the data in 190 different markets and came up with the most romantic and unromantic cities list. This is the second year of Instacart putting together such a list; we were on the most romantic list last year. What happened, Seattle?
Not all romantic hope is lost for our city. Amazon Music compiled its own list, the “Top 10 Love Song Capitals,” in the country and we are number eight! Their list is based on how often residents of a city listen to love and romance songs. Not surprisingly, Las Vegas, the wedding capital of the world, stole the top spot. The most requested “love” song is “Wannabe,” by Spice Girls, with most of the time people just asking Alexa to play the “if you wanna be my lover you gotta get with my friends,” song.
Maybe we just prefer to woo our sweethearts with Marvin Gaye and Al Green instead of flowers and chocolates?
