According to Variety, TMZ and the San Juan Islander, we’re getting a new neighbor here in the Pacific Northwest: Oprah!

Reports indicate that Oprah Winfrey has purchased a 43-acre estate on Orcas Island for $8.275 million. Part of the estate includes a 10,000-square-foot, four bedroom, 3.75 bathroom house that features Sound and mountain views. Take a look at a photo gallery of the house below.

The house, located at 512 Catspaw Lane on the East Sound and apparently called the “Madroneagle Estate” by its previous owner, was built in 2007 and was on the market for 458 days, listed at $10 million. Reports say the house sold for $7.15 million. Apparently this means Oprah is the only person able to get a good deal in the current real estate market in western Washington.

Reports also indicate that she purchased another property on the same street for $1.125 million.

Oprah’s net worth is north of $3 billion, so perhaps this is merely step one in an eventual takeover of Orcas Island that ends in her renaming it “O” Island.

So, what will Oprah be doing while she’s visiting her new home (which TMZ says she has not yet actually set foot in)? Perhaps enjoying Orcas Island’s burgeoning wine scene (it’s one of the Best Wine Destinations in the Pacific Northwest, after all), discovering the local bounty thriving in the growing number of restaurants in the San Juan Islands (including the James Beard Award-nominated Hogstone’s Wood Oven and Aelder on Orcas Island), or simply wants to experience some of the most gorgeous sights in Washington from the ferry ride in or from atop the 2,409-foot Mount Constitution.

At any rate, we look forward to welcoming our new neighbor to the region. That is, if she does indeed end up coming here (instead of purchasing it as an investment property, which Windermere confirmed to Curbed Seattle).
