Head to our vibrant state capitol for the Spring Arts Walk in late April

Where: Downtown Olympia, our vibrant state capitol, less than a 90-minute drive from downtown Seattle. WHY: Spring Arts Walk (4/22, 5–10 p.m., and 4/23, noon–8 p.m.; olympiawa.gov), a weekend celebration of visual and performing arts, featuring demonstrations, spontaneous street entertainment and family-friendly activities. Don’t miss the Procession of the Species, a celebration of the natural world through art, music and dance. WALK ON THE WILD SIDE: Lace up your hiking boots and marvel at the beautiful wetlands at Grass Lake Nature Park (814 Kaiser Road NW), a 171-acre oasis in the city with more than 100 bird and 200 plant species. FOR FOODIES: Snack on arepas, a type of Venezuelan street food that consists of a corn-flour bun filled with meat, 
cheese and/or vegetables, and a side of yuca fries at the Arepa food truck 
(arepalatinstreetfood.com). Later, treat yourself to dinner at local favorite Vic’s Pizzeria (vicspizzaoly.com), which serves hand-tossed whole pizzas and slices, with options for meat lovers, vegans and gluten-free diners alike.
