Ice skating, cabaret, and twinkling lights to brighten your season

The holiday season always sneaks up, doesn’t it? One minute you’re carving pumpkins, the next you’re untangling Christmas lights. Between ice skating, a little razzle-dazzle, and strolling through glowing streets, Seattle feels magical this time of year.

Lace up. Step into the holiday spirit at Bellevue’s Downtown Ice Rink from Nov. 15–Jan. 12. With more than 9,000 square feet, it’s the region’s largest seasonal rink. Themed sessions like black tie skate and ugly sweater night keep things fun. Whether you’re a beginner taking free lessons or a seasoned skater showing off your moves, there’s room to glide with style.

Add a little drama. Teatro ZinZanni is back in Seattle with cirque thrills, cabaret laughs, and a multi-course feast. Performers spin, sing, and soar as the magic of the holidays unfold around you. Shows run from Nov. 29-Mar. 30 at Emerald City Trapeze Arts. Slip into something sparkly, and let the show begin.

Sip something warm. Escape the winter chill at Bathtub Gin & Co., a quaint speakeasy tucked away in Belltown. A hot toddy will warm you right up, making it the perfect hideaway from the holiday hustle. For a non-alcoholic option, head to Ghost Note Coffee in Capitol Hill, where expertly brewed coffee and rich hot chocolate offer a decadent winter break.

See the lights. Seattle’s Candy Cane Lane has been lighting up December for more than 70 years, turning a quiet street into a winter wonderland. More than 20 homes come alive with twinkling lights, whimsical displays, and music that’ll lift your spirits. Stroll or drive through, and check out the Facebook page for nights dedicated to pedestrians and live performances.

Explore Skagit Valley. Tucked between Seattle and Vancouver, Skagit Valley knows how to do winter. Spot rare birds at the La Conner Birding Festival, see reindeer at the Children’s Museum Winter Wonderland, or stroll through the glowing lanterns of the Illuminight Winter Walk.
