Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market is in the running for a $100,000 prize as a finalist for The Kelly Clarkson Show’s Good Neighbor of the Year. Tune in to KOMO News today at 2 p.m. to see the Market featured on national TV, then head to @kellyclarksonshow’s Instagram story to vote by entering “Seattle.” Voting closes Friday, Dec. 6.

Established in 1907, Pike Place Market is one of the oldest continuously operating public markets in the United States. Spanning nine acres in downtown Seattle, the Market is home to more than 500 small businesses. It also provides senior housing and essential social services to the community.

If Pike Place Market Foundation wins, the $100,000 prize will help further its work in the community. Established in 1982, the nonprofit supports small businesses and farmers at the Market and provides housing, childcare, healthcare, financial assistance, and access to fresh food for low-income residents. The foundation also operates The Market Commons, a resource hub offering essential programs and services.

I love visiting Pike Place Market any time of year. The energy is unlike anything else, and it’s inspiring to see so many small businesses supported in the heart of Seattle. It’ll definitely be getting my vote.

Upcoming events at Pike Place Market include free Santa photos on Saturday, Dec. 14, and Crafty’s Handmade HoliDAYS, running Dec. 16–20.

I’m a rule follower when it comes to the outdoors. It’s reassuring to know you’ve covered the basics before…
