It’s been hot, hasn’t it? I’m scheming ways to hang out at Trader Joe’s just for the A/C. My kids haven’t left the inflatable pool, and it’s turned into the neighborhood hotspot.

Did you know Washington ranks No. 1 for beaches? Now’s the time to hang out at the nearest one. And for those hot, lazy days, nothing beats cool confections.

If you’re already planning for the FIFA World Cup 2026, listen to Ep.1 and Ep. 2 of our latest podcast with Peter Tomozawa, CEO of the Seattle World Cup organizing committee, to get the inside scoop on what hosting the games means for the entire region.

And make sure to check out our July/August issue. Our editor shares insights on marijuana’s evolving role in mental health, while our publisher discusses our shift in thinking about psychedelics as therapeutic treatment.

Local Businesses Step Up Against Rising Hunger

As food insecurity grows, Seattle organizations respond with coordinated meal distributions and support.

Food bank visits are up 70% since 2019, and even with SNAP benefits reinstated, many families still struggle to keep food on the table. Costs continue to rise, donations have dipped as everyday expenses increase, and the loss of federal support has left a system that was already stretched pushed even further. “Right now, we’re…

Fave Five: Jazzy and Merry

Fave Five: Jazzy and Merry

From twinkling lights to Viking bonfires, here’s how to celebrate the season.

Fave Five: Settling into Fall

Fave Five: Settling into Fall

Warm light, early sunsets, and the comfort of small adventures.

September and October are my favorite months in Seattle. It’s still lovely outside—plenty of sun—but the air is cooler. I find myself scanning the day for something good to do before dark: a last farmers market tomato, a long walk, or a reason to make soup. It reminds me of childhood, squeezing in one more…
