Live music, cosplay, and swanky cocktails

A bartender wearing an astronaut helmet serves drinks in a dimly lit bar, accented by colorful lights and shelves of bottles. Mark February 27, 2025, on your must-list; it's an important date for a night that's out of this world.

Hey, there’s a lot going on around town. We’re weeks away from the first signs of spring, and the city is lighting up.

The Downtown Seattle Association is focused on the future, with ideas for keeping the city center lively and full of reasons to visit. Pierce County is getting creative with graffiti, bringing in local artists to help transform it into something fun to look at.

H Mart is coming to Ballard, and I’m hoping there’s a food court involved. And finally — Drumlin is back. This is one of our go-to neighborhood places, especially in the summer. We wander over after seeing a movie at the Crest. I’m excited to try the new menu.

Colorful circus performers, a must-list spectacle, feature a central figure in a striped costume and two acrobats set against a vibrant purple background with swirling designs, dazzling audiences in anticipation of their big show on 02-27-2025.

Cirque du Soleil: KOOZA

Now-March 16
Marymoor Park
$55+

These shows are stunning. The first time I saw a Cirque du Soleil performance, I spent the entire time bouncing between total awe and mild panic for the performers. How do they do that? KOOZA is bringing that same energy. Have you seen the Wheel of Death? It is exactly as intense as it sounds. Imagine two people doing tricks on the inside (and outside!) of two giant spinning wheels, defying gravity and good sense. It’s a thrill.

Four dancers in flowing blue costumes perform a synchronized pose against a white background, embodying the elegance of movement and style—a must for any dance enthusiast's list.

Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE

Feb. 27-March 1, 8 p.m.
Meany Center for the Performing Arts
$10+

I haven’t seen EVIDENCE, but it looks like one of those performances where you leave feeling it deep in your bones. Ronald K. Brown mixes African, contemporary, and spiritual dance that looks powerful and moving. The New York Times calls it, “high energy works that joyously splice complex rhythms with a deep but down-to-earth spirituality.”

March 7, 7:30 p.m.
MoPOP
Ages 21+

The new Asian comics exhibit is opening on March 8, and to celebrate, MoPOP is turning the museum into the Forest of Lunarda — expect a magical world with a glowy atmosphere and great music. There’s a night market with food from local chefs, a cosplay contest, and an anime rave. Plus, the actual exhibit has more than 400 works from Japan, China, India, and beyond.

A green cocktail in a glass is garnished with a mint leaf using metal tongs, making it a must-list item for any cocktail enthusiast. A shaker and sliced lime sit enticingly in the background, setting the scene for an unforgettable mixology experience.

Seattle Cocktail Week

March 2-8
Various locations in Seattle

Seattle Cocktail Week is back for its sixth year, which means a week of bar-hopping, inventive drinks, and an entire event dedicated to sampling more than 200 spirits. The Carnival of Cocktails (March 8) is the main attraction — think cocktail carnival games, a bottle shop, and a puppy speakeasy where you can sip your drink while snuggling adoptable dogs. Drink responsibly, hydrate, and maybe don’t make any big decisions while using those drink tokens.

A person smiling and using a hoe in a field of young corn plants, with a vibrant green background, is truly a must-list moment for agricultural enthusiasts.

Seed the Change 2025

Wednesday, March 5, 6 p.m.
The Great Hall
$25+

I love when an event brings together great minds and good causes. This year, The Bridgerton Series romance writer Julia Quinn is speaking alongside women’s rights advocates from Kenya, all in support of Landesa’s work on land ownership and gender equality. Plus, Quinn will be signing books, which is a solid bonus.

A man with glasses and a beard sits on a pink ornate chair, donned in a white jacket and pink shirt, surrounded by lush pink floral decor. Perfect for your Must List, this scene is visually stunning and unforgettable.

Pink Sweat$

Wednesday, March 5, 8 p.m.
Moore Theatre
$31.50+

If you’re in the mood for an evening of slow jams and big feelings, this is it. Pink Sweat$ (aka David Bowden) is from Philly, writing songs since he was a teen. He came through a couple of years ago, and everyone I know who went said it was incredible — smooth vocals and all-around feel-good music. I hope he plays this song!

Local Businesses Step Up Against Rising Hunger

As food insecurity grows, Seattle organizations respond with coordinated meal distributions and support.

Food bank visits are up 70% since 2019, and even with SNAP benefits reinstated, many families still struggle to keep food on the table. Costs continue to rise, donations have dipped as everyday expenses increase, and the loss of federal support has left a system that was already stretched pushed even further. “Right now, we’re…

Fave Five: Jazzy and Merry

Fave Five: Jazzy and Merry

From twinkling lights to Viking bonfires, here’s how to celebrate the season.

For me, it all starts when Lou Rawls sings. One song into Merry Christmas, Baby, and I’m ready to give in to the whirl of it all. Hearing it also means the pace is about to pick up, and sometimes it does feel like too much. But that’s just the holidays—the joy comes tucked inside…

Fave Five: Settling into Fall

Fave Five: Settling into Fall

Warm light, early sunsets, and the comfort of small adventures.

September and October are my favorite months in Seattle. It’s still lovely outside—plenty of sun—but the air is cooler. I find myself scanning the day for something good to do before dark: a last farmers market tomato, a long walk, or a reason to make soup. It reminds me of childhood, squeezing in one more…

A fall season opener, Taste of the Sound, Downton’s farewell

Fall is just about here, showing itself in the chill of early mornings and the fog that settles over the city. It’s the season when Seattle feels like the center of the art world. We dropped into Pioneer Square to catch fashion at its most fun during First Thursday Art Walk, rounded up this season’s…
